Tread Films · Site and CMS · 2026

A film studio that publishes its own work, without a CMS.

A site for an Amanzimtoti film studio, with an editor that commits to the repo instead of billing them monthly.

The Tread Films home page: a sunrise over the sea behind the studio logo and the line "Stories that impact, brands that grow".

Problem

Tread Films shoots video, so the site has to keep up with it: new films, a changing team, testimonials as they come in. A static site would mean phoning a developer for every one of those. A CMS platform would mean a monthly subscription, a second place for the content to live, and a login the studio would use a handful of times a year.

Build

Next.js on Vercel, with the content kept as a file in the repo rather than in a database. The studio signs in with a password and edits films, team and testimonials; saving writes that file through the GitHub API, which commits and triggers a deploy, so an edit is live in under a minute. There is nothing extra to pay for and nothing new to trust with the content. The commit log is the history and a revert is the undo. Photos are resized and converted in the browser before they upload, so a camera original crosses the wire at about 50KB.

The same home page on a phone, with the headline stacked under the logo.
